Antarctica & Patagonia

Antarctica is the world’s southernmost continent and also the world’s highest, driest, windiest, coldest, and iciest continent. Nature rules here; penguins wobble along the shore, seals relax on ice slabs, and humpback and killer whales break the water’s surface.

Travelling with a team of experts aboard the expedition ships, encounter this magical place up close, floating around enormous tabular icebergs by Zodiac or kayak, and walking along beaches with penguins and seabirds.

Things To Experience In Antartica

Falkland Islands

There is nowhere else in the world like the Falkland Islands. The archipelago is a remote, wind-swept place of stunning landscapes, dazzling white sand beaches, magnificent wildlife, and a rather gregarious mix of people.

Cruise the Drake Passage

Drake Passage is a 600 mile (1000km) wide waterway connecting the Atlantic, Pacific and Southern seas. It is an excellent area for whale-watching and pelagic birding. Be on the lookout for albatrosses and Southern Giant Petrels, as well as Cape Petrels, prions and storm-petrels.

South Shetland Islands

The South Shetlands are heavily glaciated and are often hidden in mist and fog. The islands offer a number of opportunities to get ashore and explore. Historic remnants of the former whaling era, modern-day research stations, unusual geological formations, evidence of volcanic activity and an overwhelming number of penguin rookeries make the South Shetlands a unique outpost on the way to the Great White Continent.

Wildlife in South Georgia

Charcoal-black mountains covered with snow, giant glaciers and thriving wildlife combine to make South Georgia one of the great natural islands. Here you’ll witness a cacophony of calling birds, elephant seals clashing and thrashing, and crowds of colourful king penguins stretching out as far as the eye can see.

Arktowski Station, King George Island

Arktowski, a Polish Antarctic research station, was established in 1977. It is one of the most visited stations in Antarctica. Bleached whale bones are scattered around the pebble beach. One of the few lighthouses in Antarctica, Point Thomas lighthouse, is located on the station’s premises.

Cruise the Lemaire Channel

The Lemaire Channel is undoubtedly one of the most breath-taking nautical passages anywhere and has become an iconic photographic image of Antarctica. The serene waters act like a mirror, reflecting the towering landscapes in the channel below, adding to the grandeur of one of Antarctica’s wonders.
